Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router

January 5, 2016

Asus is a company that specializes in a lot of computer components. From graphics card to gaming laptops, they’ve got you covered. Just a few years ago, they delved a little deeper in the computing niche and they’ve decided to make some routers.

Their early routers were a massive hit, and they’ve since created a lot of promising routers. Today, we are going to take a look at the Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router. This is a 3-in-1 wireless router that can act as a Router, a Wireless repeater and a bridge mode hub.

Here are the features of the Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router:

  • Multiple 3-in-1 Router/Access Point /Range Extender wireless modes

  • 4 SSIDs help manage bandwidth allocation and access control

  • Powerful Online Multi-tasking, throughput up to 300Mbps

  • Two detachable 5dBi antennas for more powerful and wider coverage

The Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router is a very versatile router because it has a lot of really good features baked into one. It can be used as a router (which is the default mode), a Wireless repeater (if you have an existing router and you just wanted to boost the WiFi range), and it can also act as a bridge (if you want to plug your gaming consoles so that it can have internet connectivity).

The range of the Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router is impressive as it has 2, 5DBi gain external antennas. These antennas are detachable so that if in case you want to bring the router elsewhere, it won’t be troublesome for you because of the protruding antennas.

The Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router has 4 Ethernet LAN ports if you want to wire your connection up and it also has a WAN port as well.

As for setting this router up, it is very easy to install the Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router up and running. When you first fire up the router, you will be greeted with the router’s GUI. Asus calls the proprietary GUI as the “Software EZ”. This is akin to Netgear’s Netgear Genie software.

Basically, what Software EZ does is it streamlines the setup process for you. This is perfect for people who are not tech savvy, who just wants to set up the router up and running in no time.

Another cool feature of the Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router is that you can set up to 4 SSID’s. Again, this is perfect if you want to separate connections for different people in your household. For example, you can set up a guest account, 2 accounts for home use, and one account for business transactions.

All of the SSIDs are protected with a WPA2- Enterprise encryption. It is powerful enough to ward off any hacking attempts to your network.

The Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router is a fantastic router. It has an impressive feature set like the ability to have 3 modes (router, wireless extender and bridge), 4 SSIDs to separate connections, and 2 powerful and high gain antennas.

The Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router costs only $40.
