An overview of African Mango dieting – does it work?

November 14, 2013

The African Mango has certainly become extremely popular in recent years. Not only is it a wonderfully delicious fruit that’s grown in the Cameroon rainforests, but its seeds have become a well-known dietary supplement pill used to assist in controlling cholesterol and blood sugar levels as well as losing weight.

A random double-blind study of 40 individuals who were considered obese was given African mango while other participants in the study weren’t. The ones who received African mango demonstrated lower levels of LDL and triglycerides (bad cholesterols) and higher levels of HDL (good cholesterol). A dietitian kept weekly records of the control group while they all maintained their normal diet and calorie intake.

The results of the study suggested that the soluble fiber in the African Mango was helpful in slowing down the absorption and digestion of dietary sugars. It also suggested that the African mango fiber bound itself to intestinal tract bile acids, thus further reducing cholesterol levels.

Weight loss professionals are hailing the results of the study as positive indicators of the medicinal value of the African Mango in fighting obesity. While it may not be a silver bullet, it seems to be useful as a dietary supplement to those wanting to take inches off of their waists with an easy and all-natural pill. To top it off, the African Mango can also be useful for several other health related issues.

In another 10 week double-blind study, there were 102 obese subjects who were given 150 mg tablets of IGOB131 African Mango extract or a placebo twice each day before meals. At the conclusion of the 10 weeks, the group that was given the African Mango extract lost on average 28 pounds each, and 6.7 inches from all around their waistline, as well as reducing total body fat by 18.4%. Further medical benefits observed showed that the IGOB131 recipients reduced their cholesterol levels by 26%, their blood glucose level by 32%, and their levels of serum CRP dropped by 52%.

The African Mango may be a weight loss supplement that’s worthy of a second look. If it helps you improve or maintain your health while losing weight then you’ll be on the road to a new and healthier lifestyle. Always consult with your doctor if you’re being prescribed any type of medication before starting a regimen of African Mango supplements. Although there haven’t been any known side effects reported with the use of African Mango, it hasn’t yet been determined if it interferes with any medications.
